Wow! What Was That!" New Work Seeks to Help Newbie "UAP SPOTTERS"

"What is that?"

Everyone is looking up these days! Things are being seen and studied more than ever.  A lot of people are realizing they are unfamiliar with what should be in the sky, what can be there sometimes, and how to measure is something is truly strange.

"What is That?: A Basic Guide to UAP Spotting" offers some tips and helps. The author uses the term "UAP Spotter" to identify a growing citizen-based observation group, often armed with cameras and videos actively watching the skies.

A great help to those 12 and older who are beginning to explore the topic and want to "UAP Spot" but are confused by the activities of the night skies. What is natural? Common? Strange? How to tell the difference??  Available from Amazon in paperback and E-Format.

Oklahoma's State Storytelling Group Donates Book by Hudson to Iceland Library

It is always a delight to see where my books travel. Love catching them in libraries and on shelves in shops. Now, I can add this delightful event.

"The country of Iceland is known for its high literacy rate, a country that loves poetry and stories, both written and oral. Well now it can add one more book about stories and storytellers.

When Chester Weems recently traveled to Iceland he took a new copy of Marilyn Hudson’s book Stories Center Stage: Storytelling in Modern Oklahoma.

Chester went to the public library in Akureyri, the second largest city, of about 20,000, in northern Iceland. They have a very modern library, the newest in Iceland. Chester presented Marilyn’s book to Doddi Jonsson, a staff member and an Icelandic author himself, to be added to the library’s collection.

So, Marilyn is now,way up north, as are all the Territory Tellers in her book."

There is a photo - so I am told - showing Chester presenting the book to Mr. Jonsson taken by Kim Weems who traveled the country with her dad.

Kansas UFOs

Kansas is often termed one of the "fly over" lands. A space to be crossed to get to something more interesting. As a Kansas native born in the state the "sunflower state" has much to offer. Its history long, rich, and more diverse than many suppose and its natural wonders and views hauntingly lovely.

As a child of the Kansas wheat belt, I grew up living under a vast blue sky and enjoying the song of the Meadowlark, fields of wheat rippling like a golden ocean, and seeing the bright yellow and green of the sunflower on a warm summer day.

Children grew up seeing every type of aircraft fly over (from airports or bases) and knew the look of the commercial planes on a high altitude long haul, and the short hopper planes crop-dusting, surveying or making short hops.

I knew from experience and shared stories that other things were seen over those majestic fields of grain. Thus, Sunflower Saucers: Kansas UFOs was born and the small book based on my personal experiences, Encounter in Kansas.  Both are available on Amazon.

Author thanked for contributing to new work: Vivia: The Legend of Vivia Thomas by Linda Neal Reising

Vivia: The Legend of Vivia Thomas by Linda Neal Reising.  It is an amazing and creative telling of the story of the mysterious "Vivia Thomas" of Oklahoma folklore. Through poetry the author brings insight and emotion to the movements of the story. It is well worth the reading and a great addition to poetry collections. The haunting tale of love and its high points and its deepest, darkest moments is expressed with a deft hand and a firm, lyrical voice.

Some New Projects Nearing Completion

Due out later in April, these two works are sure to please. Authors Cullan Hudson and Marilyn A. Hudson, who teamed up for the suspense thriller The Mound, collaborate again with a short guide to stories of UFO's/UAP's over Route 66 in Oklahoma.  The popularity of the first volume of Sooner Saucers demanded a second one and this one is full of stories - many never before shared tales - of sightings in Oklahoma. In addition, a short annotated biographical section introduces the people who wrote about, researched or made special history in Oklahoma related to the topic. Also, events are conveyed so their place in history - and relationship to other events - are not lost. UFO/UAP studies reveal there is a lot of "chaos theory": what happens in one place impacted events somewhere else or in simple terms if it was seen in one place it was seen somewhere else thus validating the larger history of the events. Despite this, most records of the Air Force and stories shared over the years liked to portray the sightings as very locative and isolated from one another. Marilyn A. Hudson will do a zoom presentation for Oklahoma MUFON in July on her research and the new works.

A GREAT TIME WITH OKLAHOMA MUFON

Recently, I was able to share some of my research concerning the history of UFO's in Oklahoma via my book SOONER SAUCERS with members and friends of Oklahoma MUFON.  Attendees of the ZOOM meeting came from about seven states and were a great group of listeners. Really enjoyed the chance to talk to them and answer questions.

SOONER SAUCERS, VOL2 is soon to be out (target is an end of year publishing date).  On its heels will be KANSAS ENCOUNTERS and two short chronological monographs: one on 1947 and one on 1965.  For a little fun, a short and sweet guide type booklet is coming passed on UFOs ON OKLAHOMA'S ROUTE 66.

Earlier I had also had the fun of visiting with Molly Payne at KUSH radio in Cushing, Oklahoma and talked about the books and storytelling. Two great favorites of mine!

Author Seeking Stories of Sightings of UFO's for New Book

Author Marilyn A. Hudson, after the positive response to her book SOONER SAUCERS: OKLAHOMA UFO'S 1947-1969 (2020, Amazon), is working on a second volume. " I am especially interested in people who have first hand experience or stories related to a UFO from 1970 to 2020."

Hudson's first book on UFO's covered the cases found in Project Blue Book, the Air Force project that claimed to investigate the unidentified fron 1952 until it was closed in 1969.  For the new work, she will focus on those before and after that time frame. "There is a great need for people with true, first-hand experiences to share what they know so it can be added to a growing body of serious research into the subject too often ridiculed or labeled as silly "flying saucers."

Since the beginning of the new millennium a new openness across the globe among governments and scientists has meant that a new level of truth and transparency is being called for by "true believers" and those simply wanting to determine what is happening. Recent moves by the U.S. Government regarding what they now call, UAP's (unidentified aerial phenomena) indicates clearly that the previous claims of their non-existence was just so much smoke screen. While, not necessarily posing a threat to national security they do underscore that prideful claims of our firm grasp of all possible scientific possibilities fell far short of the truth."

As a result, Hudson is requesting people with knowledge of sightings or related experiences in Oklahoma in the 20th century to please email her and share their story. "I am looking for facts, lots of them, and will need time, places, names, and details...as many as can be remembered to help researchers verify and make connections to any other events happening in that same window of time." Hudson has discovered in her research that often events in one location are connected to other sightings or events and make them far more significant that was previously thought."

Below is the list of information she would like to have for each account. She can keep names anonymous but will need them to help verify names and locations. If not requested otherwise she will include name and place as well as date with the account she includes in her next volume. In sending her your account, you verify that you have given her permission to include your account.

  • Name
  • Address at time of sighting
  • Time of sighting/event
  • Day or Night
  • What were you doing just before the event?
  • Details about the sighting or event: sounds? colors? smells? reactions to the environment? (Wind, animal responses, unexpected clouds, warm, cold, wet, etc.)
  • Shape of object seen (round, square, triangle, oblong, etc.)
  • Size: If you hold a dime at arm's length how would the size compare? A Pinhead? A Pea? A Quarter?  Same, larger, smaller?
  • Illumination: (glow, lights (what color(s))
  • Your reaction to the event or sighting? (How did you feel? What did you do?)
  • Where - in the sky - did you see an object? (N,S,E,W,? Did it move and in what direction? Where was it in relation to established objects such as barns, trees, streetlights, etc.)
  • What did the object do? (Moved fast, slow, steady, erratically, etc.)
  • How long were you able to observe the object?

As much detail when answering these questions will be valuable to the end result.

THRILLER SET FOR 2017 PUBLICATION

New Novel By Norman Author Set for Spring Release

Norman based author Marilyn A. Hudson and Whorl Books announce the publication of her latest work for April.

Scream all you want. No one is coming to your rescue.

Her luck has always been bad, her decisions worse, and the 'American Dream' is her nightmare.
He is the envy of many, wants for nothing, and makes it all look so easy.
They are about to meet and one of them will pay the ultimate price.

There are among us dark souls planting seeds of evil in fields most of us don't even care to venture.
In the shadows, along the borders of our civilized world, they reap from the flesh of the lost a foul harvest.

But some things grow tougher in the shadows.  Sometimes they fight back.
See what the preview readers had to say:
"I felt it was very well written. With a lot of cliffhanges that kept you just so intrigued. You never really knew what was around the next corner. Loved the book - now waiting for the movie. "-- Lorene Young, Case Management Assistant

"This is a great read, the manner in which you build fear and delusion in the characters made me wonder if the main character was in danger or just loosing her mind. Good build up of suspense." --Dustin Allen Smith, Mental Health Clinician

True Crime Work

Into Oblivion: Murders, Missing Persons and Mysteries by Marilyn A. Hudson explores the world of the mid-century and how some people  took a wrong turn on a road of lingering questions.

In this book Hudson gives a sweeping overview of some of the dastardly things people were doing to each other in the 1930's- 1960's in average and normal America. Then she gives some deeper looks into the lives of several victims whose cases are still unsolved. Finally, she offers a tantalizing theory that connects previously forgotten crimes with other unsolved murders in hopes authorities will decide to look a little deeper and cast their net a little wider. For, as she notes, "there is no statue of limitations on finding the truth."

Look for it coming soon.
